Kya Granger is a photographer based out of Northeast Ohio. Her passion for photography has been present since she was young, but further developed into her high school education where she began to take some photo classes. She is currently going for her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in photography at The University of Akron.
Granger’s work has been featured in the 88th (2024) and 89th (2025) annual juried exhibitions at the Myers School of Art in Akron, Ohio. A piece is also present in the tunnel of the Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus, Ohio (2023-present). She has also won multiple awards throughout her career. In high school, her work was featured in the Scholastic Art Show, winning 2 silver keys and 2 honorable mentions. As she transitioned into college, in 2022, she received the Myers School of Art Portfolio Award. Granger was also awarded two studio scholarships, the Gillette Academic Award in 2024 and the Mary B. Demetros Scholarship in 2025 for outstanding work in a studio.
The stories of memory, time, and history are seen in the objects, places and the people she photographs. Her current work combines human and natural elements to reveal the process of seasons and personal rebirth.
